Flexibility: Adapting through Lockdown

Flexibility has always been one of GIG’s Key Pillars. Our online platform has always focussed on creating flexibility for our workers and our clients and GIG’s culture of flexibility flows right through the whole company. So, when COVID-19 and lockdown hit in March 2020 and the Hospitality Industry tragically had to close its doors for the foreseeable future, GIG was in a great position to be flexible, think differently, look to different avenues and focus on other opportunities.

Warehousing is something that we here at GIG have done very well in the past, but with our main focus always being Hospitality. However, through the lockdown of the last few months, GIG has flourished in the Warehousing sector. Our Hospitality trainers have rolled up their sleeves and trained in Manual Handling and MHE (low level forklift trucks). We have created training videos, warehousing training materials and have immersed ourselves in the world of warehousing and logistics. Our Warehouse Operatives, being key workers have been braving the empty streets, donning face masks and gloves in an effort to keep the UK’s supply chains working and orders coming through your doors.

Our Warehouse Operatives have worked extremely hard over this time and we are very proud to have been able to support the UK and do our small bit through this time. However, this is not going to be a short-term measure. Whilst we have always worked in warehousing to a degree, we are branching into various operating models and different opportunities across the UK. (More of this to come in future blog posts!)

This is a very exciting new phase for GIG, and we are looking forward to growing in the world of Warehousing.
