The GIG Academy allows GIG Seekers to choose from either a long-term Apprenticeship scheme or short-term Online Learning courses, both of which allow you to ‘earn while you learn’. However, with National Apprenticeship Week just around the corner, we’re kicking things off by taking applicants for our hospitality-focused Apprenticeships scheme.
For some, the hospitality industry doesn’t remind them of the word ‘career’. Although an industry famous for being hands-on, sociable and incredibly diverse, it’s also seen as a short-term, 'stop-gap' job - causing the prospects of a meaningful career to fall on deaf ears. We want to change that mindset.
The reality is that with the right tools and guidance, workers can not only embrace the perks of the hospitality industry but also develop a fulfilling career.

So, what does a GIG Apprenticeship give you?
Flexible Learning. Aside from what you learn on-the-job, you’ll have access to flexible online courses that can be completed in your own time – no class times, no classroom.
Entirely Free. We don’t believe in charging our Seekers in any way, shape or form. The GIG Academy is entirely free, so you’ll never have to worry about costs or student fees.
Students discounts. As a GIG student, you’ll get benefits such as 30% off your TFL travel, as well as a wide range of NUS (National Union of Students) extras – from cheap movie tickets to discounted retail purchases and more.
Guaranteed work. As a GIG Apprentice, you’re guaranteed a minimum 16 hours of work per week and, to make sure you’re better off, you’ll never earn below £8.25 per hour.
Nationally Accredited. As nationally accredited courses, students can feel safe in the knowledge that their studies will be recognised as a national standard embraced by employment providers across the UK.
